Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu announced on Wednesday that the team will play home games in Lviv and will train and reside in Kiev as conflict rages around the club’s home city.
According to reports, six players have refused to return to the country because of concerns over the military hostility in Donetsk.
Brazilians Douglas Costa, Fred, Dentinho, Alex Teixiera and Argentine striker Facundo Ferreyra remained in France after a friendly match against Lyon last week.
Ukraine, which successfully co-hosted the Euro 2012 with Poland, hopes to stage matches at Euro 2020 with Donetsk and Kiev having submitted bids. UEFA is due to announce the host cities in September.
