Real Madrid presented their newest signing on Tuesday in Colombia’s World Cup star James Rodriguez.
The 23-year-old has signed a six-year contract with the European champions and according to reports Real paid French Club Monaco in the region of 80 million euros for the talented forward.
He is Real’s second major signing of the summer following World Cup winner Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich.
“I am happy to be here, it’s a dream come true,’‘ said Rodriguez at his unveiling.
‘‘Thanks for always being here (for you support). I hope to give you much happiness, and I hope to win many titles here. Hala Madrid!”
Rodriguez first came to Europe in 2010 when he signed for Porto before joining Monaco last year.
He shined at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil where he helped his nation reach the quarter-finals and ended the tournament with the ‘Golden Boot’ award for having scored a tally topping six goals.
