More sanctions against Russia, massive job cuts at Microsoft and 'cheap' warplane

In Business Weekly we look at the most wide-ranging sanctions yet announced by Washington against Russia over Ukraine.

The US is targeting key institutions such as energy and defence firms as well as banks., and the European Union is also launching more sanctions.

Moscow responded that they would likely hurt the US as much as the Russian economy.

A few days before the sanctions were introduced, Russian officials had already found themselves left out in the cold as the UK barred them from the Farnborough Airshow.

We’ve a report from Farnborough on a low-cost military plane which its maker hopes will appeal to cash-strapped governments.

And Microsoft has announced larger than expected job cuts. Moving to focus more on the cloud- technology, the company is to slash as many as 18,000 jobs.
