Israel and Hamas exchange fire as ceasefire ends

Violence has returned to Gaza and Israel, after the expiry of a five hour ceasefire.

Israeli jets have flown a number of sorties, with the country’s Ministry of Defence asserting they are attacking Hamas targets.

A hastily agreed humanitarian window had been in place earlier today allowing those in Gaza to stock up on essential supllies.

Israel has since reported a number of rocket strikes on its territory, also saying they prevented a group of Hamas fighters from tunneling across the border earlier in the day.

Meanwhile a UN agency has announced that a stash of rockets has been discovered at a school in Gaza. Tel Aviv has long claimed Hamas has been using civilian centres to hide its weaponry.
