Hamas claims to have fired eight rockets at Israel on Thursday two of which targeted Tel Aviv. Eye witnesses reported seeing them being intercepted and shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome defence system.
A military spokesman said rockets launched at the cities of Beersheba and Ashkelon overnight were also shot down. One rocket did land in Tel Aviv though the damage was superficial.
“I saw something like a rocket, it landed on the petrol station. I was near the building, I was scared so I went downstairs with the owner of the garage and then all the Israeli police arrived,” Osama Manamid who witnessed the rocket attack told reporters.
The barrage of rockets has caused no serious injuries in Israel but has paralysed business in the southern communities of the country. More than 320 rockets have targeted Israel during the campaign.
