German Chancellor Angela Merkel is on her seventh official visit to China.
Trade is top of the agenda for Chancellor Merkel with China being Germany’s second largest export market outside Europe.
German companies sold goods worth €67bn to China while €73bn worth of produce went the other way.
Merkel is backed by a high-powered business delegation including Airbus, Lufthansa, Siemens,VW and Deutsche bank.
Deals are already being done.
Airbus Group NV’s helicopter division signed agreements to sell 100 helicopters to Chinese companies.
The contracts were signed in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People.
However, all is not well in between the two countries.
German companies have long complained that their Chinese counterparts are stealing technology and settling bills late.
