A suicide bomber has blown up his car near an army checkpoint in Beirut on Monday night.
The bomber was killed in the attack and around 20 people were injured in the mainly Shia district in the south of the city.
Lebanon has suffered a wave of sectarian violence linked to the civil war in neighbouring Syria.
The bombing has come just three days after a failed attempt to kill the head of the country’s General Security department, Major General Abbas Ibrahim near the Syrian border. A policeman died and another 37 injured in that attack.
