A pizzeria in the Russian city of Syktyvkar has launched a new take on pizza delivery.
It’s helicopter drone-delivery service made its first drop to much applause from passersby in the capital of the Komi Republic.
The delivery reportedly took around half an hour and cost the recipients just over nine euro, paid for by card at the time of ordering.
Once the drone reaches its destination, the manager calls the customer to ensure the pizza doesn’t fall into the wrong hands before it is lowered to the ground using a cable.
DoDo pizza claims to be the first to operate commercial drone deliveries, despite reports of similar operations in India and the US.
It is unclear not sure if the service has been tested in Russia’s well-documented extreme weather conditions.
