Gunmen disguised as police guards have attacked Pakistan’s biggest airport.
Security was breached at Karachi international shortly before midnight on Sunday – a six-hour firefight followed. At least 23 people were killed including all ten attackers – according to Pakistan’s military.
The gunmen came well prepared with explosive belts, rockets and grenades. The terminal targeted is not normally used for commercial flights but for cargo and special VIP operations.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Pakistan has been fighting an Islamist insurgency for more than a decade with the Pakistani Taliban.
