France’s Clarisse Agbegnenou won the gold medal at the Havana Grand Prix in Cuba on Sunday after upsetting compatriot Anne-Laure Bellard in the under 63 kilo category.
Baku Grand Slam winner Sagi Muki made light work of local hope Magdiel Estrada in the under 73 kilo final.
After a relatively slow start, Muki stepped it up a gear in the dying moments, eventually sealing the win with a clinical tsurikomi-goshi for ippon.
The bronze medals were won by Georgia’s Nugzari Tatalashvili and Musa Mogushkov of Russia.
World silver medallist Laura Vargas Koch kept her composure to edge out Bernadette Graf in the under 70 kilo final with a well taken kesa-gatame.
World number one Avtandili Tchrikishvili reigned supreme in the under 81 kilo class.
The 23-year-old, who was up against America’s Travis Stevens, scored an early waza-ari and then held on to seal the win.
The bronze medals were won by Murat Khabachirov and Antoine Valois Fortier of Canada.
