World Cup 2014: Suarez doubtful

Uruguay will play their final friendly against Slovenia this week before heading to Brazil with doubts lingering over whether key player Luis Suarez will recover in time for their opening match against Costa Rica.

The prolific Liverpool forward, who underwent surgery on an injured knee earlier this month, helped his side finish second in the Premier League, becoming the first Liverpool player to score 30 league goals in a season since Ian Rush 27 years ago.

La Celeste still boasts a number of world-class players led by an experienced manager, Oscar Tabarez.

The former AC Milan boss is in his second stint after a 16-year cap between 1990 and 2006. He has won 47 percent of his matches with the national team and will be looking to add to Uruguay’s trophy cabinet this summer.
