World Cup 2014: last-minute tickets on sale

Thousands of football fans waited in line at World Cup ticketing points across Brazil early on Wednesday, hoping to get their hands on last minute tickets released by FIFA.

According to reports, England fans face being barred from World Cup stadiums if they buy tickets via unofficial websites which are selling seats at hugely inflated prices.

Tickets for the final, semifinals and the opening match were also available on the internet and sold out within one hour of going on sale.

Social networking sites raved with frustrated fans who were sent to a virtual waiting room as the site froze due to online traffic.
