EU expands sanctions on Russia

European Union foreign ministers have stepped up sanctions over Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Two Crimean companies and thirteen individuals have been added to the bloc’s sanctions list, according to an EU diplomat.

The expanded sanctions come as separatists declare victory after Sunday’s referendums. People voted in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk on independence from Kyiv.
