Spaniard Julen Lopetegui has been appointed coach of Portuguese club FC Porto.
The 47-year-old former Real Madrid and Barcelona goalkeeper has signed a three-year deal and replaces Paulo Fonseca who was sacked in March and replaced by Luis Castro on an interim basis.
FC Porto were knocked out of this season’s Europa league at the quarter-final stage and will finish the domestic league campaign third.
Lopetegui was previously coach of Spain’s under-19 and under-21 teams, both of which he guided to Euro success.
