At least twenty-two migrants have drowned and another ten are missing after the boat they were travelling in capsized near the Greek island of Samos in the Aegean Sea.
It’s believed almost 70 people were on board the vessel. Their nationalities are still unknown. Greek authorities have said the cause of the accident is unclear.
Greece, which currently holds the EU presidency, has made tackling illegal immigration a priority. The country is a major entry point for migrants and refugees trying to reach the EU with many crossing by sea from Turkey.
