Benfica ended Porto’s three year reign as Portuguese first division champions by winning their 33rd league title on Sunday.
Lima scored twice to hand Benfica a 2-0 win over bottom club Olhanense which left Jorge Jesus’s men six points clear of Sporting with two games left.
Although Sporting can draw level mathematically if they win their final two games and Benfica lose theirs, but Sporting miss out on the crown due to their head-to-head record with the champs.
Benfica remain on track for a domestic double and a potential minor treble as they face Rio Ave in the Portuguese Cup final on May 18 as well as Juventus in the semi-finals of the Europa league with the first leg taking place on Thursday.
