France: Nespresso changes its commercial ways


Nespresso has agreed to change its commercial ways in France after concerns from an anti-trust watchdog that the coffee-capsule maker may be abusing its dominant market position.

Customers automatically void their warranties if they use rival coffee capsules in their Nespresso machines.

This will change, so that Nepresso machines will be guaranteed, even if customers use non-Nespresso capsules.

Further, the company has agreed to stop negative comments about its competitors.

Anti-trust action will be stopped if those changes bring acceptable results after a month.

The French market is crucial for Nespresso as 25 percent of its world sales are made in France.
