Local hope Abdelkader El Mouaziz produced a superb display to clinch the fifth stage of the Marathon des Sables in Morocco on Friday.
The 45-year-old dominated his opponents from the outset and completed the 42.2km trek from Rich Merzoug and Gadoun Tarhbalt in a winning time of 3 hours and 11 minutes.
Great Britain’s Danny Kendall came home second while 2012 champion Rachid El Morabity still leads the overall standings after finishing fifth.
In the women’s event, America’s Nikki Kimball secured top spot ahead of French trio Laurence Klein, Amandine Roux and Aline Pierron.
