Crimea State Council endorses new constitution

The Crimean State Council has voted to endorse a Constitution of the Russian Republic of Crimea.

That means the council officially considers Crimea a democratic state within the Russian Federation.

Eighty-seven MPs voted for the endorsement in an extraordinary session of the state council on Friday.

The vote is the latest moved to being Crimea in line with the Russian Federation’s constitution, economy and social system.

The full integration process is expected to be completed by December.

The main provisions of the constitution are similar to articles of the Russian Constitution.
