First parliamentary assembly in Pyongyang
North Korea’s newly-selected parliament met for the first time on Wednesday in Pyongyang. It was the first time that North Korea has reassembled its parliament under recently re-elected leader Kim Jong-un.
North Korean state media reported that Kim Jong-un had been reaffirmed as First Chairman of the National Defence Commission, a title that he was originally awarded in April 2012. He was the only candidate to run in the rubber-stamp elections.
