Uganda celebrates anti-gay crackdown

Thanksgiving rallies have been held in Uganda by anti-gay supporters as, together with the country’s president, they defied international condemnation of new anti-gay legislation.

Thousands showed their approval of the law which criminalises homosexuals.

President Yoweri Museveni said he would not be dictated to by outside powers.

Uganda relies heavily on international aid but some European countries and the US have cut, delayed or reviewed their donations to Uganda over the law.
