Despite organisers working around the clock to have all 12 stadiums ready in time for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Goal-line technology is already in place and will be available to officials this summer.
Germany-based company GoalControl will supply the system following a successful trial during the Confederations Cup in Brazil last year.
GoalControl ensures the ball’s position is continuously and automatically captured in 3D sending a signal to the referee’s watch within a second to confirm that a goal has been scored.
