G7 leaders discuss Crimea crisis at The Hague

US President Barack Obama has arrived at The Hague for a G7 summit on nuclear security.

The gathering, however, is expected to be dominated by a fringe meeting without Russia on the Ukraine crisis and Moscow’s annexation of Crimea.

The G7 leaders will be talking about what extra sanctions they can take in response to Russia. Since its move last week, Moscow has seized a Ukrainian airbase on the peninsula.

Also on the agenda will be the June meeting of G8 nations in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi when Moscow is due to take over the rotating G8 presidency, but G7 leaders have suspended preparations for that.
