Brussels: Activists urge better protection for immigrants
Lying on a fabricated beach, four activists kick back nonchalantly on their sun loungers, reading the morning papers and sipping cocktails. Their peace and quiet does not last long, however, as dozens of fellow activists march towards the beach and huddle around their now heavily outnumbered colleagues before falling to the ground, drowning in the sea.
The reconstruction was a protest over the dangers that many asylum seekers face in their attempts to cross into Europe from North Africa and the Middle East.
Amnesty International, which organised the protest, insists that the EU needs to introduce policies, ensuring greater protection to asylum seekers.
