German giants Bayern Munich have booked their ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
German international Bastian Schweinsteiger put the hosts ahead in the 55th minute after some great work from Franck Ribery on the left wing. Lukas Podolski equalised two minutes later but it was too little too late as the Bavarians held on to win 3-1 on aggregate.
Atletico Madrid also progressed after they downed AC Milan 4-1 at the Vicente Calderon.
Diego Costa opened the scoring with a superb volley after 2 minutes before Kaka headed in the equaliser in the 27th. The Rossoneris then created a few chances but were not able to trouble the hosts as Arda Turan and Raul Garcia both netted with Costa scoring his second in the dying moments to complete the rout.
