North Koreans have been voting for new members of the country’s top legislative body, for the first time since leader Kim Jong-un came to power just over two years ago.

As well as being head of the country and the armed forces, Kim has been elected to the Supreme People’s Assembly.

State media said he received 100 percent of the vote in the constituency where he stood and there was a turnout of 100 percent.

Elections to the national assembly are held every five years.

Kim Jong-un took over as North Korean leader in December 2011 after the death of his father Kim Jong-il.
