With the help of a light and waterworks show Formula One team Williams on Thursday unveiled their car’s new design as well as their new sponsor – Italian drinks brand Martini.
This season will see the old V8 engines replaced by turbocharged V6 units with energy recovery systems – the biggest technical changes for years.
After a strong showing from new driver Felipe Massa in pre-season testing the Brazilian is optimistic for a successful start to the campaign.
The former Ferrari driver said: “There is a lot to do, there is a lot to understand about the car. There is a lot of developing that we need to do but it was definitely a good start and now it is the right time to get into the first race and I hope we will start well the season. I hope and we are looking forward to improve the car in the best way we can from the first race until the last race.”
Although Alcohol and fast cars is a dangerous combination Martini has enjoyed successful partnerships in racing, with Porsche and Brabham in the 1970s, Lancia in the 80s and most recently with Ferrari from 2006 to 2008.
the 2014 season begins in Australia on March 16.
