The trial of paralympian Oscar Pistorius for the murder of his girlfriend is due to get underway in South Africa.
The athlete is standing trial for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp at his luxury home in Pretoria on Valentine’s day last year.
As well as the legal proceedings in court the man known as ‘blade runner’ is also under intense media scrutiny. TV will broadcast live the events in court.
His family said over the weekend that they will no longer respond to any media reports.
His uncle Arnold said:” The time for public commentary is over.”
If Pistorius is found guilty he
faces a life sentence of 25 years minimum.
