Olympiakos beat Manchester United 2-0 in their Champions League last-16 first-leg match.
United started without defenders Phil Jones and Jonny Evans who remained at home due to injury, while Olympiakos’ top scorer Javier Saviola was out with a thigh problem.
The game started badly for United, with defender Patrice Evra being shown a yellow card for hand ball in the second minute.
It did not get much better. Alejandro Dominguez scored for Olympiakos in the 37th minute, to give the Greeks the lead at the break.
On-loan Arsenal striker Joel Campbell hit a sublime effort early in the second half to make to make it 2-0 and heap further pressure on David Moyes’s men.
The Champions League is United’s last chance of a trophy and they looked disjointed and sluggish against an inexperienced Olympiakos side who are bidding to reach the quarter-finals for only the second time in their history.
The return leg will take place at Old Trafford on 19 March.
