Judo Grand Prix: host country Germany wins a gold

On the third and final day of the Judo Grand Prix in Dusseldorf, Luise Malzahn ended Germany’s wait for a gold medal. She defeated Anamari Velensek of Slovenia in the 78 kilogram final.

In the over-78 kilogram final, German national champion Franziska Konitz was beaten by Japanese three-time world bronze medallist Tachimoto Megumi.

In the men’s events, Ilias Iliadis of Greece grabbed gold in the under-90 kilogram final. The 27-year-old triumphed over Noel Van ‘t End of the Netherlands.

Daiki Kamikawa won Japan’s sixth gold medal in the over-100 kilogram final. He defeated Faicel Jaballah of Tunisia.
