The southern Russian city of Sochi is host to the very costly 22nd Winter Olympic Games. Spanish TVE reported on one of the most controversial international sporting events in history.

Sochi is packed with security forces, yet many people remain very anxious. Mixed in with some 37,000 police and military personnel, there are also traditional Cossacks, France 3 reported.

Sochi also has a stray dog problem that the authorities have struggled to fix. Animal defence groups have moved in to save them, with unexpected help from a rich Russian businessman, Italy’s RAI 1 reported.

So how luxurious is Sochi? The resort town on the Black sea has changed for the better for the games, and some residents are proud, but inside the silver lining there is a cloud, Swiss TSR reported.
