Tina Maze glides back into contention


Tina Maze performed her trademark cartwheel after finally taking her first victory of the season in the prestigious Cortina ladies downhill.

With cold temperatures overnight and perfectly clear weather on the day the track was a bit icier than it had previously been.

But that didn’t stop defending overall World Cup champion Tina Maze from taking the win, signalling a return to form just in time for the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The Slovenian clocked a time of one minute, 37.79 seconds, 0.31 seconds ahead of the second-place time.

Marianne Kaufamann-Abderhalden took the second spot, marking her third podium of the season.

In third place was Tina Weirather. She kept the momentum going from the start of the season to land her ninth podium finish.
