Around 20,000 Germans die as a result of mistakes made in hospitals or clinics each year – that is the finding of a health insurance report.
The errors include mistreatment leading to patients contracting infections and being prescribed the wrong drugs.
The hospital error deaths are greater than those from traffic accidents.
A spokesperson for German doctors claimed the mistakes are rarely the result of medics doing a bad job, rather they were due to organisational problems and complicated medical procedures.
