Volen Siderov, a right-wing Bulgarian MP who allegedly verbally assaulted a French cultural attaché during a airplane trip, has given up his parliamentary immunity.
All 23 MPs from Siderov’s Ataka party gave up their immunity in solidarity with their chief.
Siderov verbally assaulted a French cultural attaché during the Sofia-Varna flight and later attacked a passenger and a police officer on an airport shuttle bus, according to witnesses.
The MP is likely to be charged with disturbing the peace and could face up to five years imprisonment.
