German kidnap victim rescued in Colombia

A German man has been rescued after being reportedly held for ransom in the Colombian city of Cali. The 54 year-old was found chained up and unconscious.

He had apparently been drugged by the family of a woman he met up with after developing a friendship with her on the internet.

Police have made three arrests.

Cali is one of Colombia’s hot spots for violence; in 2013 the authorities rescued 13 hostages and arrested 67 people for kidnapping.
