Ferrell stays classy in 'Anchorman 2'

Will Ferrell is back as the grotesquely conceited news presenter Ron Burgundy in ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’.

The sequel reunites the cast from the first Anchorman movie a decade on, as the first rolling news channels are launched.

Will Ferrell insists that his character has no connection to the actual world of broadcast news: “Ron is kind of a terrible journalist. Real local anchors, real anchors for all news actually, really put the work in and they’ve done the time to get to that place. So while I have an appreciation for it, that’s what so fun about the character, he’s just so flippant about any sort of journalistic integrity.”

As the film picks up a few years after the first one ended, Paul Rudd is back as investigative reporter Brian Fontana, and revealed he enjoyed it just as much as the first time round.

“When I first read it I thought ‘I like this story.’ It’s observant and wry and it isn’t preachy in any way. It’s still ‘Anchorman’ – it’s ridiculous – but the underlying theme is clever,” said Rudd.

‘Anchorman 2’ is out now in the US and in some European countries.
