The funeral of football legend Eusebio is due to take place in the Portuguese capital Lisbon later today.
Eusebio da Silva Ferreira, played 64 times for Portugal and scored 733 goals in 745 professional encounters.
He died at the age of 71 following a heart attack.
Greif striken Benfica supporters have been paying their respects at the Estadio da Luz:
“It was deep and emotional to see his coffin, but he is still here with us. As I say kings are here forever and he is a king.”
Such is his status in Portugal that the country has declared three days of mourning for the Mozambique born footballer.
“Benfica is a family. It’s not only sport. Families have moments of grief, we are here to pay our respects,” said one lifelong Benfica fan.
In latter life Eusebio became an ambassador for his beloved Benfica and Portugal. He leaves a wife and two children and a host of good memories.
