Argentinian midfielder José Ernesto Sosa is to be reunited with Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, sealing a loan switch from FC Metalist Kharkiv for the rest of the season.
Nicknamed ‘The Little Prince’, Sosa was previously coached by Simoene in the 2006-7 season when he played for Estudiantes de la Plata.
Both he and the coach are said to be happy with the decision.
“I’m very happy with the news about José (Sosa),” Simeone told the press. “He’s a player I always wanted to have back since I left Estudiantes de la Plata, when he was very young. He is a very dynamic player and has a good shot. He can play in different roles in the midfield”
Placed second in La Liga, Atletico continue their title challenge against Malaga, when the Spanish top-flight resumes on Saturday.
Goal difference separates them from leaders Barcelona, while Real Madrid are in third.
Atletico have not won La Liga since 1996. Either Barca or Real have been champions in each of the past nine seasons.
Previously playing down his club’s title ambitions, Simeone now insists Atletico are a force to be reckoned with.
