From the Kremlin to Dublin and from Stockholm to Lisbon, people at every end of Europe saw out 2013 with a bang. Italy’s RAI television reported on homeless people going to the theatre in Naples.

The new year for some Romanians began at the airport, leaving home. They were flying to London with jobs lined up, now that restrictions on their moving around for work in other EU countries have been lifted, Portugal’s RTP reported.

Europeans and Americans celebrated the New Year in the North African desert in this Spanish TVE report.
