A father who murdered his two children in France has killed himself in prison, it’s emerged.
Julian Stevenson’s son, 10, and daughter, 5, were killed with a knife at his flat in Lyon in May.
Lyon newspaper Le Progrès reported the 47-year-old had hanged himself in a gym for prisoners in solitary confinement.
Stevenson had been in custody since his arrest in May. He was convicted after confessing to the murders.
He had been in a bitter dispute with his former French wife over custody rights.
Stevenson had initially enjoyed normal access to his children, before he was violent towards his ex-wife.
The weekend the drama unfolded was the first he could have his children without the presence of a third party.
On the day of the murder, CCTV showed Stevenson with his children in a fast food restaurant and a bakery.
He later murdered them using a kitchen knife at his flat in the St Priest area of Lyon.
Stevenson was arrested after fleeing the flat, apparently escaping down the street on roller skates, covered in blood.
