Teargas fired in Bangkok

Police in Thailand fired teargas in an attempt to break up a protest in the capital Bangkok.

The demonstrators had tried to disrupt planning for an election scheduled for February, by preventing candidates from registering.

The incident came a day after the Thai government extended a special security law for another two months.
