Uganda’s parliament has passed a bill making some homosexual acts punishable by life in prison.
The bill, first introduced in 2009, proposed the death penalty but that was later amended following an international outcry.
Homosexuality was already illegal in Uganda, but the new law
bans what it calls the “promotion” of gay rights.
President Yoweri Museveni must sign the bill within 30 days for it to become law.
