Spanish paper says Messi's father implicated in drug money laundering

According to Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo the father of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is about to be accused of laundering drug money.

The ongoing lengthy investigation, says the paper, has revealed Jorge Messi laundered the cash by staging charity football games and gala concerts for the Lionel Messi Foundation, set up by his son.

Messi and fellow players Dani Alves, Jose Manuel Pinto and Javier Mascerano have already been interviewed by police. Both father and son deny all the accusations.

In September the Messis struck a deal with the Spanish tax authorities and paid five million euros in back taxes after they were threatened with prosecution for tax evasion.
