Russian billionaire Oleg Tinkov says he wants to build the best team in world cycling.
It comes after the businessman bought the Saxo-Tinkoff team for a reported 5.9 million euros.
Speaking at a London press conference, he said he would go shopping for new stars.
But he insisted it was a long-term project and results are unlikely to be seen next year.
He said: “Money isn’t everything but it means a lot of course. We could buy and we will buy more riders, more stronger riders or stars if you wish but we don’t have to be crazy about that, for example 2014 is done, you know the roster, there is no news but it is a long project in ’15, ’16 we will buy more riders.”
The new team – which has re-jigged its title to Tinkoff-Saxo – is expected to be built around Spanish star Alberto Contador.
