Although it marks a drop of 0.6 percent on the previous month – it was still 6 percent higher than during October 2012.
Socialist President François Hollande made it a campaign pledge to get more French people into work – but the stands at around 10.9 percent.
Just hours before the data was released,Hollande appeared to waver over his aim to cut unemployment by the end of the year. Calling it a monthly “battle”, he said it would take as long as necessary.
