After weeks of speculation, Russia’s Maria Sharapova has hired Sven Groeneveld as her new coach for the 2014 season.
The 26 year old, who is expected to return to action at the Brisbane International, had been playing without a formal coach since parting ways with tennis legend Jimmy Connors in August.
The former Grand Slam champion lasted just a month after joining the 26-year-old following her disappointing second-round loss at Wimbledon in July.
Groeneveld has been a part of the Adidas tennis development program and has previously worked with other top players including the likes of Monica Seles, Ana Ivanovic and Mary Pierce.
