Thousands of people have demonstrated in Naples against the dumping of toxic waste in the region.

Protesters say the local mafia, known as the Camorra, has been leaving tonnes of radioactive rubbish, paints, chemicals and glues in the surrounding countryside over the last two decades .

Among the demonstrators were those who say their relatives have died of cancer and other illnesses related to the pollution.
