Eleven people have been killed in an assault on a police station in the Xinjiang province in northwestern China.
Chinese state media says nine attackers were shot dead in the incident on Saturday afternoon. Two police officers were also killed.
The attackers used knives and axes in the assault near the historic city of Kashgar.
The region is home to about 9 million Uighurs . Many complain about they have been marginalised by policies favoring Han migrants.
