In Britain, thousands of war veterans have taken part in services to mark the annual Remembrance Day commemorations.

In London, Queen Elizabeth led the ceremony to honour all those who have died during combat.

She laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall as hundreds of thousands of people across the country observed a two-minute silence at 11 o’clock.

The solemn ceremony takes place every year on the 11th hour on the nearest Sunday to the anniversary of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.
