Brazilian born Diego Costa was on Thursday selected to represent his adopted country Spain for the first time.
Top scorer in La Liga with 13 goals in 12 appearances this season, Costa signed a formal letter last month stating his wish to play for Spain – ending a tug-of-war over the 25-year-old between the world and European champions and Brazil.
Costa who represented Brazil in friendlies against Russia and Italy in March – will now done the red shirt of Spain in a couple of friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa later this month.
